One thing that's extremely popular is a haunted house like thing for the month of October. Joshua Rodgers (as with the community orchestra, this is not related to the campaign) has a plan to organize in conjunction of every other haunted house that's run in the county one large haunted house that could be open for one entire month. The goal is for the haunted house to grow in size every year, as well as draw in people from around the county and other nearby ones.
Haunted houses are extremely popular and, depending on the location, can make enough money in one month to keep the business profitable for a year. While there are a number of haunted houses in the county currently, the plan for this is to have a place setup that would take a half hour or more to go through -- it's not your mom-and-pop's haunted house, it's a plan for a huge "haunted house" business.
In order for this to get off the ground, it will require the joint effort of everyone doing a haunted house in the county to join in (and if they don't want to, this haunted house would give fliers telling of the others in the area as well). It would have around 50-100 people working there for about one and a half months (1 week setup, month of October working, 1 week dismantle), and getting paid for their services - as well as the people donating or letting their items being used being paid some money from the proceeds. All leftover funds would then be used to improve the house for the next year, and to possibly run other events in town during the other months.
This is actually a fairly large undertaking that some businesses take a year to plan, for it to be up and running this year, there's only 5 months.
